Shore Medical Center

Cancer Care Unit

Since 1983 RNS has contributed over $2,000,000.00 toward various Cancer Care Facilities. Since 2000 they donated an additional $500,000.00 toward the Linear Accelerator for which that area was named the Ruth Newman Shapiro Cancer and Heart Fund Radiation Therapy Suite.   At the completion of a 5 year pledge an additional $500,000.00 was again pledged to upgrade the (IGRT) Image Radiation Therapy of the Linear Accelerator.

Shore Medical Center has been a lead agency for the NJ CEED Program in Atlantic County.   This program was established for those who cannot afford their cancer treatments but need to be treated.    Some financing is funded for patients, but not all treatments are covered. In 2001, RNS was the ONLY organization that stepped in with a $50,000.00 donation to fund services that were not covered by the program, allowing, those in need, to be relieved of at least one burden of cancer.

In 2013, when the funds from the first donation were exhausted, RNS, once again, stepped in with another $50,000.00 donation to continue to relieve some of the financial burdens of cancer patients in need.

To acknowledge their dedication and extreme generosity, Shore Medical Center named the rose garden, at the entrance to the Cancer Center, as the “RNS Rose Garden”.
